GI Lecture Handout

Handout surveying Ulcers, GERD, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation Last Update: April 2020

My vomiting and drugs for vomiting video.

The handout to accompany this video is found is the GI Drug Handout.

Note: I was terribly nauseated while making the video, and I find that hilarious.

A few Corrections/Updates:

1. The generic name for Zofran® is oNdansetron. (It is my favorite drug of all time!)

2. No one uses Syrup of Ipecac anymore unless it is the zombie apocalypse and there are no hospitals where gastric lavage is possible and even then it’s probably a bad idea.

3. The FDA still recommends you not use the plant marijuana for nausea even if you purchase it legally in your state or country; various plant strains have various potencies and effects and so that hasn’t all been worked out yet. It’s early days. And always be suspicious of gummies or “supplements” as they are not regulated.
